Preparations for take-off of Noida Airport’s are going on full swing. Airport’s runway and air traffic control have already been ready. In March last year, the runway and air traffic control (ATC) got ready and trials will be planned in the June end of this year. The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) is overviewing the entire development and progress of the project. NIAL has recently announced that around 80 percent of the first phase of the project is complete. The first phase includes runways which are 100 percent complete and are ready for flight trials. The construction of the terminal building is about to get complete. With all the work going in progress, operation of the airport may begin in September 2024.
Noida International Airport is Ready to Take off Soon
The allocated budget for the first phase of the development is of Rs. 10,056 crore. The NIAL has reported that from the allocated budget Rs 7,371.51 crore has already been spent on the construction of the Greenfield airport. The Noida International AIrport project has also given Rs 4,362 crore to the farmers whose lands were acquired for the development of the airport as a compensatory amount.
The development of Noida International Airport will bring various avenues for the economic development in the region and the state. Noida International Airport Nearing Completion
In the initial phase of the development of the NIAL is to deliver a single runway and a terminal. It will have a capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually. There will be 65 flights taking off daily from the airport including both domestic and international passengers.
The NIAL will have multiple phases aiming to expand the airport’s capacity. The objective is to increase capacity of 12 million passengers annually, to 70 million annually. By adding two more runways the projected cost of the development will be Rs 29,561 crore. With more passengers travelling from the airport, it will fetch more benefits and economic development will get a pace.
Connectivity to the airport is also a crucial matter. Seamless connectivity will offer hassle free travel to and from the airport. The authority is working on improving and building easily accessible ways to commute to the Noida International Airport. The authority is pondering over metro line connectivity to the Airport. In addition to this, the pod taxi system is also an option and rapid rail is the most suitable option.
